Hatched

Hatched in 2013 was my first solo exhibition. It was inspired during a trip to Kyoto when I first discovered the silkwoom cocoons in a small retail store. Looking back, I realised I had been drawing these shapes repeatedly since art school and the works developed organically and easily exploring the constancy of change.

The show sold out which was an unexpected outcome given it had taken me almost 20 years to have a solo exhibition since graduating from art school. I have since gone on to develop very large cocoon works, fascinated by the softness, fragility and strength of these small and beautiful shapes.
